I'm always up for some tasteful accordian

I've been "hearting" the Theater Fire ever since my friend Daniel gave me a burned CD several years ago. I've seen them go from virtually un googleable to being routinely mentioned on KERA's Art & Seek calendar and blog. I seriously made them a music myspace (yeah, I said the M word) just so I could add one of their songs to my profile. THAT'S how un-findable they were. That was then. These days the TTF (that's right, they demand the article) is riding moderatley high on their sophomore album "Matter and Light". They just concluded their west coast tour and are about to embark on the East coast leg of it. Before this group of guys sets off again check them out at Lee Harvey's. They draw a great group of dancers. Young blonde hipsters doing the pasty shoe-gazer dance (picture it...they gaze, at their shoes, and do a little shimmy sham-sham, clever huh? oh, and they're pasty, cause they're hipsters). Free Movie at the Nasher Scuplture Garden tonight

The Nasher Sculpter Center with the help of Fidelity Investments, is offering FREE movies all summer on Thursday and Friday nights. Tonight's film "You've got Mail" starts at 9pm. If you're looking for some cheap entertainment (and I don't mean the movie) head over the sculpture garden with all of the Booker T. high schoolers and old people and pop a squat on that comfy grass and watch Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan make out. Then look around and watch the awkward art school kids make out* too. Eww...just typing that makes me wanna spew a little bit. Oh, and bring the kiddies. They'll at least learn how to spell Fox. "Eff-Ohh-Ex". *Making out for awkward art school kiddos means sharpie-ing each other's "vintage" Chuck Taylor converse, backpacks, or iPhone covers. aww, young love.

Painter, I don't even know her!

Calling all my artist peeps. Peep this: http://www.deepellumtexas.com/art.php Deep Ellum sculptures and murals are finally getting a much needed makeover thanks to the Farmer's Market TIF fund. As you can see, some of the art over in Art Park is pretty ca-reepy. What's she doing anyway? Well, if you don't find this mural as "touching" as the original artist did, submit your ideas to repaint one of the sculptures (especially the one above!) in Art Park. Do your part to de-creep Deep Ellum. Maybe by the time the green line opens up there'll be something to go to Deep Ellum for.
